I joined Form & Fitness in May 2014. I continuously ate when stressed at home or at work and was gaining weight. I knew it was time to a make change. I wasn’t as active as I wanted to be. I had a hard time keeping up with my children and wanted to lose some weight. When I first started to work out at Form & Fitness, I mainly focused on cardio. I wanted to build up my endurance and breathing. My goal was to get my weight down to 150 pounds (or more if I could). It took me three years to meet my goal. Unfortunately, I thought I was eating healthy, so I focused on exercise only. The weight loss came only after joining the Form & Fitness Transform U Program in April 2017 and learning about nutrition and how it impacts my training. I can now lift heavy objects, play tag with my kids, sit on the floor with my legs crossed and play more active sports like basketball and tennis. The advice I would give to my peers would be write down achievable goals for both exercise and nutrition – start small daily goals and then gradually work toward bigger goals.

A year ago, I lost weight rapidly but was unable to keep it off. I found myself not eating anything for the majority of the day and then when I did eat, it was a lot of unhealthy food.
Joining the Form & Fitness Transform U Program taught me that it was ok to eat food. I eat a lot throughout the day and have not ever felt hungry because it is satiating food that provides a lot of fuel. Today I am more energetic and alive. Goal setting, movement and structured exercise have made me want to live a more educated, positive lifestyle.
As of today, I have lost 20 pounds. Changing my eating patterns made all the difference to me and I love the motivation Form & Fitness Transform U provides. I am finding success by reducing stress, trying wonderful new recipes and reading fun articles. I receive encouragement to go to the boot camp and shockwave classes which I now know are not threatening in any way. There is absolutely no judgment or guilt, rather an instant feeling of trust and understanding and lots of time to share in struggles such as holidays and events/festivals. I am becoming more and more aware of my triggers, negative self-talk, emotional eating and numbing out routines. I have gained a lot of confidence that this time, with the right education and endorsement, I can continue on my weight loss journey with a more productive result. I am shedding more and more “emotional weight,” meaning having had such shame and guilt for much of my life and having health issues such as pre-diabetes, cancer and a mini-stroke – I am turning my life around. I was told by my doctor last week that he found me to be the healthiest I have ever been. I give the credit to my employer, Kapco, and the Transform U Program. I am much more aware of how my body is responding. Thank you again for this wonderful Transform U Program. It has changed my life.

After I had my daughter at age 21, I realized I was not healthy and wasn’t setting a good example. At first, I did strength training and cardio, which challenged me in different ways. It took me 1.5 years to lose 60 pounds, and I gained the confidence to run my first half marathon in May 2017. One of the things that I do now is track my food and eat an 80/20 diet. Advice I would give my peers would be to START – just start! It’s worth it and you’ll wish you had started sooner. I am thankful I found Form & Fitness!

I’ve been a member at Form & Fitness since 2011, but the moment I realized that I needed to make a change was when my mom died. She died of congestive heart failure and diabetes. She was only 68. This is a pattern that runs in my family. I didn’t want my life to end that way. At Form & Fitness, I felt welcome and I was impressed with all the different programs that were offered. I first started in group exercise and worked my way to joining the specialty training classes. This added a competitive edge that really helped motivate me and gave me the extra “push” that I needed from the trainers. Within the first six months, I started seeing positive results. It was about a year in that I finally broke down and bought smaller size clothes! The advice I would tell my peers is DON'T GIVE UP! I know it hurts a lot once you first get going, but it gets easier and then you learn to realize that when it hurts again, that’s a good thing because it shows that you are making progress!

Since the first day of walking into Form & Fitness and starting a workout program with Ryan, I have gained knowledge and confidence in my body. My goal at Form & Fitness was to feel strong and develop a habit of discipline to achieve my results. Ryan has taught me numerous programs, one specifically related to my profession. His patience, along with the creativity of workouts keeps me motivated, resulting in physical and mental progress. I am continually impressed with the ongoing education the gym provides, the cleanliness and the ability to communicate with the members regarding their needs.

I had been a runner for about 40 years and have completed probably a dozen full marathons and maybe 20 half marathons. All became my past, when working in my yard in July 2009, and I did something that damaged nerves so that my right leg was unusable. I went from running 10 miles in the morning to not being able to walk in the afternoon. For months, I was only able to walk with a cane and with a conscious effort to move my right leg. I eventually got back to about 95% use of my leg, which is about where I am today. For two years, I had a goal "to get back in shape," but all I did was get flabbier. I finally decide that I need a BHAG (Big Hairy Audacious Goal) – which in my case was "hike the Grand Canyon rim-to-rim within a year.” This is when I came across Form & Fitness and Ryan Murphy in 2012. Ryan was aware of my goal and pushed me to my limits. I reached my 12-month goal, which was to get in proper shape for the Grand Canyon rim-to-rim; I got there in 9 months! In my 71st year here on earth, I was able to easily climb 294 steps to the top of the Bunker Hill Monument in Boston with my 11-year-old granddaughter. One thing I live by: always remember that today is a good day to have a good day. Don’t pray for an easier life; pray to be a stronger person.

My motivation to start exercising and getting healthier was to change around my lifestyle because there are a lot of health issues in my family. I also wanted to feel good and look good! One challenge I had to overcome was pushing myself hard enough to actually see results! Oftentimes I would lack motivation or not push myself enough. Eventually it got to the point where I gave it my all and that's when I started seeing results. Positive effects exercise has had on my life is that I no longer am tired or insecure and I have a ton of energy! I also have encouraged other family members with health issues to start exercising and I want to obtain a personal training certification soon. One thing I did in the past that didn't work was my very consistent exercise routine. Form & Fitness classes have pushed me to switch up my workouts so that I can challenge myself in different ways. I absolutely love the classes!

I realized I needed to change my life when in June 2015, I was diagnosed and treated for sleep apnea. I felt incredibly tired, sluggish and out of breath. When I walk into the Form & Fitness gym, the amazing staff, who make me feel great, always welcome me and make me feel happy to be there. The first thing that I changed in my life was I started working with a trainer – she talked with me about my exercise and nutrition choices. I eliminated all soda and sugary drinks and have made cooking a priority. The biggest challenge was not being able to eat my late-night cravings, but drinking half of my body weight in water has truly helped those cravings. Since joining in 2015, I have lost 100 pounds! Thank you Form & Fitness for pushing me!
